Newton Movie - Naxalism - Propaganda - Freedom of Expression

Recently I saw the much-talked-about movie Newton which also represented the case of India at academy awards previous year. Let me say at the outset of anything else I say, the movie was fantastic and it is just way ahead of the Indian cinema! Acting by the lead characters Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi has been awesome and I can bet that no Khan from the Bollywood could have made this movie the movie it has become! Newton was fantastic!

Why India needs to play on fast pitches? Opinion

I still remember the advertisements on the TV prior to the series against South Africa on their domestic pitches that we will avenge the 25 years of humiliation against them this time because the team that has gone to play is number one with an aggressive attitude and a much aggressive captain. However, what has happened until now is just opposite to that - we have been humiliated yet again and nowhere in both the lost test matches we could even give the South Africans a lion's fight - we were the cubs throughout, admit it!

Nationalist vs anti-national: The Debate & the Drama

Even the nation! This is a sorry state in the country that even the nation has not remained untouched of the petty politics that the politicians in the opposition and the ruling party play. Leave aside the marginalised and historical left parties in India who are biting the dust as some pages torn and thrown of a notebook which is no longer useful, even the mainstream parties like Congress and the BJP are also not sparing the nation. The intense debates that we are regularly mock-participating on the news channels and the horrendous opinions that we get to read in the national 'reputed' newspapers every day are leading us nowhere - as a nation, we just stand divided - pro or against - in the terms of politics, it might be a good case but in the terms of a nation, we are certainly not marching in a right direction!

Jobs and Setters - the problem of employment in Bihar

The Nitish Kumar led Bihar Government which also boasts the allies like RVP and SuMo, to me, has failed to impress because I can still see the same Bihar which was once the trademark of illness and lawlessness in the country when a lampoon and thug like Lalu Yadav was the chief minister of the state - what have you done so far, Nitish ji?

How IIJNM is grooming future journalists - an insider account

Since the foundation of IIJNM in 2001, an institute of journalism in Bangalore, it has been shaping the journalists of modern India. With the changing contours of the definition of media and journalism in the country and the world, the aspirants have to understand the advances that the industry has made over the years and most of the institutes often lack that 'modernist' approach in their curriculum as well as aptitude. IIJNM, however, has been proactive in this regard from the very beginning. The faculty members always take care of the relevance of what they are offering to their students and their practicals always enlist the activities which help the students getting an account of the present-day media functions.
